New members are welcomed into The East Almerían Fire Service Consortium

No vigente.

The formal ceremony was attended by Mojácar’s Mayor and Consortium President, Rosmari Cano, Almería’s Provincial Council Vice President, Javier Aureliano García, as well as other Mayors, Councillors from all over East Almería and, the head of Turre Fire Station, Francisco Flores.

Rosmari Cano welcomed those present and gave her congratulations to the new members, whilst also thanking their fellow workers for the eleven years of the integrated Fire Brigade Service to which they all belong. She gave her acknowledgement to the commitment and dedication implicit in their work, with words of thanks as well to the families for their understanding and support.  She went on to express gratitude to Almería’s Provincial Government for their efforts to provide the finances to support, maintain and improve the Service in 48 municipalities in the province.

The Provincial Vice President spoke about his Government’s initiative, being the only one in Andalucía to provide this free service to all municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants.  In the last seven years, they have also created new stations and invested more than twenty million Euros in the Service across the province, with imminent plans to create a further 16 posts.

The 26 new firefighters that have been incorporated into the Consortium have had to pass stringent admission tests as well as undergo training practice for three months at the Public Safety School and the Turre Fire Station.  They will join the Service at Turre and will soon also be part of the new Huercal-Overa Fire Station that will open its doors in the Spring.
